Types of Packaging
The following six main types of packaging are used at Textile bonding.
- cardboard boxes
- cardboard tubes
- returnable wooden pallets
- non-returnable wooden pallets
- polythene wrappers
- returnable plastic containers
Cardboard Boxes
Cardboard boxes are generally not reusable and should be packed flat after use and disposed of through a local carboard recycler. If this is not possible then talk to the relevant sales representative to see if these can be returned for recycling via Textile Bonding.
Cardboard Tubes
Carboard tubes can sometimes be reused and this should be discussed with the relevant sales representative at Textile Bonding. It is possible to recycle tubes but many recyclers do not like them because of the space they take up in the skip. This causes excess energy usage in transportation when compared to the weight of cardboard carried.
Returnable Wooden Pallets
Returnable wooden pallets will be identified with the name of the company that owns them, they may be Textile Bonding owned or customer supplied. These must be returned to Textile Bonding after use. This includes pallets that have been damaged so that they can be withdrawn from the system and replaced if required.
Non-returnable Wooden Pallets
All wooden pallets should be reused if in good order. A number of companies exist that will remove pallets free of charge. If there are difficulties in reusing the pallets then it may be possible to arrange for these to be returned to Textile Bonding. Textile Bonding arrange for collection and reuse of excess pallets where possible.
Polythene Wrappers
Generally the polythene wrappers cannot be recycled as they have been contaminated with adhesive tape. Disposal by land-fill may be the only option if a waste to energy plant does not operate in your area. These wrappers should not under any circumstances be returned to Textile Bonding.
Returnable Plastic Containers
Returnable plastic containers will be identified with the name of the company that owns them, they may be Textile Bonding owned or customer supplied. These must be returned to Textile Bonding after use. This includes containers that have been damaged so that they can be withdrawn from the system and replaced if required.
